At Simply Health, we encourage our patients to ask questions. Over the years running our practice, we have had the same questions asked over and over. Here are some of the most popular questions new and current Chiropractic patients have asked.

  • How much does it cost?

It depends entirely on how much care you require and what insurance cover you may have. Prior to beginning chiropractic care, we will outline a program for you so you can better budget for your needs. We also offer special rates for family care. Please refer to our Fees page for details of standard visit costs.

  • Does it hurt?

Most people (even children) enjoy having their spine adjusted. The level of discomfort should be no more than having a tight muscle lightly squeezed. Techniques for young children and older adults are particularly gentle.

  • Is it safe?

Chiropractic is considered a ‘low risk’ health approach, especially when compared to conventional medical approaches such as anti-inflammatory drugs. Learn more here. Most people are presently surprised at how gentle our techniques are.

  • Does it work?

Research and personal experience show that chiropractic care is very effective for low back pain, headaches and neck pain. In addition, we also see patients for a range of other health conditions, though research is limited in these areas. Chiropractic care may also improve overall well-being and many of our clients use regular wellness care as a pro-active health choice, rather than just pain relief. The benefit of wellness check-ups has not been established in research, so this is considered on an individual basis.

  • If I start, do I have to keep coming?

No. Some of our clients only use chiropractic care for initial pain relief. Once their pain has settled, their care stops. Others have a more functional approach and use chiropractic care to help strengthen and balance their spine. Finally, some clients attend regular wellness visits, because they like the feeling they get with chiropractic care and the ongoing health benefits they receive from regular spinal adjustments.

Ultimately the choice is yours. We will advise you on what we believe is best suited for you, but you choose how long you would like to benefit from care.

  • Can I still see my GP, physio or other health practitioner while I am under chiropractic care?

Absolutely. Often our patients are co-managed along with other health practitioners and we communicate regularly with health professionals to ensure you are getting the best possible care.

  • Will private health insurance cover some of my chiropractic care?

Yes, as long as you have chiropractic included in your ‘Extras’ cover. You can claim your private health rebate directed at our practice using Hicaps.

  • Will Medicare cover some of my chiropractic care?

In some specific cases Medicare will cover up to 5 chiropractic visits in a calendar year. This program is known as Chronic Disease Management (CDM) or formerly as Enhanced Primary Care (EPC).

A person only qualifies for Medicare coverage if they have chronic and complex health problems. You can discuss this further with your chiropractor or your GP to see if you qualify for the Medicare program.

You will need a GP referral before you can claim on Medicare. Rebates can be made directly at our practice using Hicaps.
