Insomnia
Do you lie awake at night frustrated because you’re tossing and turning, rather than enjoying a restful sleep?
Insomnia is a condition that describes individuals who have difficulty sleeping, or find it hard to fall or stay asleep. As a result, they have trouble functioning during the daytime due to the lack of adequate sleep.
In chronic cases, it may lead to problems with concentration, irritability, depression and an increased risk of heart disease.
When insomnia occurs without a known cause it is called Primary Insomnia. In cases where a known medical, environmental or psychiatric cause is known, it is termed Secondary Insomnia.
In the case of secondary insomnia, addressing the cause rather than the symptom is essential.

Chiropractic care can help you get a restful sleep
As chiropractors, we will often hear our clients say, ‘I know I’ll be sleeping well tonight’, when they attend for their chiropractic care. While there have been no large studies looking at the connection between spinal health and sleeping, it makes sense that these people may sleep better when their body is relaxed and balanced.
If you have trouble sleeping, don’t be too quick to resort to sleeping tablets or sedatives that have long-term risks of dependence. Talk to us to get sound advice and treatment to help you sleep the natural way.
